ESOBLOCK

ESOBLOCK is a diaphyseal obturator used to occlude the medullary cavity prior to the insertion of acrylic cement during a total hip arthroplasty.

It prevents cement from flowing along the diaphysis, thus facilitating its pressurization.

As it is perfectly biocompatible, it is reabsorbed in 1 to 3 days at 37° and withstands the momentary rise in temperature due to cement polymerisation.
