MRS

Modular-rotatory shoulder endoprosthesis.

  • Modularity of components;
  • High biocompatibility;
  • Freedom rotational movement;
  • Controlled longitudinal excursion.

A cutting-edge solution

Developed at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, the MRS Modular-Rotatory Shoulder endoprosthesis provides a cutting-edge solution for shoulder prostheses.

The MRS endoprosthesis provides the surgeon with an extremely varied and comprehensive range of combinations of different dimensions, allowing the choice of components to me made on site in the operating theatre.

If indicated, the proximal part of the prosthesis may be removed, leaving the implanted intramedullary stem in place. This is particularly useful when it is necessary to re-operate on children to follow their natural growth process.

Features and materials

Of the special features that make the MRS endoprosthesis a universally recognized product, the following stand out:

  • The 1cm AXIAL CLEARANCE between the ball head and the spacer allows for controlled adjustment of the length of the prosthesis;
  • The freedom granted to the ROTATIONAL MOVEMENTS of the head in relation to the spacer. The very low friction at the head-spacer level facilitates rotational movements and preserves the stem/cement/bone interface from abnormal rotational or traction stress.

Materials:

  • Titanium Ti-6AI-4V ELI ISO 5832/3
  • UHMW polyethylene – medical grade ASTMF648 and BS7253 PART V TYPE II
